La presenza di cetacei, squali balena, leoni marini è tipica dei mari del Messico e della Baja California in particolare, anche se il loro avvistamento dipende dai periodi e dalle loro migrazioni. Interessante, a proposito di squali balena, questa notizia, ripresa dai principali quotidiani e riportata da qui.
E’ un’immagine così rara, e molto insolita, da costringere gli attivisti di WildAid, (un’organizzazione americana che tutela gli animali a rischio estinzione) a dover intervenire per difendere la sua autenticità. L’immagine, scattata dal fotografo Shawn Heinrichs per WildAid, ritrae uno squalo balena nelle acque del Messico mentre è proprio sotto l’imbarcazione di un gruppo di volontari impegnati in un’uscita di monitoraggio della colonia di squali balena nel Mar dei Caraibi.
La foto è cliccatissima e in molti hanno sospettato che fosse frutto di un fotoritocco. Ma WildAid, dalla pagina Facebook ufficiale, ha precisato: “I giornalisti hanno messo in dubbio l’autenticità della foto di Shawn Heinrichs. Credeteci, è vera”.
